MET Gala Fashion Predictions

It’s the first Monday in May!!! For most people, it’s another long day at the office; but for us fashion kids, it is the most exciting day of the year!

If you don’t know what the MET Gala is than you are probably on the wrong blog and you should leave. Just kidding, don’t leave, but do Google because I am not giving you a run down on fashion’s most important night.

Moving forward, this years theme is “Camp: Notes on Fashion.” No, no one will be in fatigue and cowboy boots, the word camp means something appealing because it cannot be understood—think Moschino or Comme des Garçons. It opposes satisfaction and seeks to challenge, daringly fit for the Met Gala.

Lady Gaga and Harry Styles are hosting alongside the queen of fashion, Anna Wintour. Gaga is definitely going to come very hard this year because she earned that spot with “A Star is Born” (nope, I will never let that movie go).

So, lets jump right into my trend predictions!

I think we are going to see a lot of tulle and feathers! We saw it on the runway this past spring and we have been seeing it on the streets ever since.

In addition, I think there is going to be a lot of nipple. . . I know that is crass, but we have been seeing it in street style a lot. I mean, if I was going to show nipple in the most stylish way possible, why not do it at The Met Gala?

Political statements across the chest, bodice, neck, legs, or maybe even a train (que Rihanna 2016) are going to happen! Again, we saw it on the runways and the new fad is being woke. . .

Prepare yourself for some off the wall, extremely imaginative looks. The Met Gala is where fashion and art collide in the most beautifully majestic way and there is no doubt that this theme is going to bring out the Picasso on top of Van Gogh on top of Banksy, all wrapped into one beautifully designed couture gown. And I am going to cry…

And if all my predictions are bogus, stayed tuned for my recap after the extravaganza!
