My Summer Fashion Obsessions

So, I’m going to be honest. I hate summer. Don’t get me wrong, I love the break from school (if you’re still a student like me). But that is about it. I think summer fashion is repulsive. Sun dresses, shorts, flip flops, it all makes me want to itch. Yet, unless I want to move to Antarctica, I’ll have to deal with it.

I make do with what I can and just make sure an air conditioner is somewhere near because it’s necessary, especially in Atlanta.

Let’s hop right into my summer obsessions. And don’t worry, they are unisex so don’t get carried away and leave.

Silk… I just got into silk. I don’t know if it is the abundance of pajama inspired pieces going down the runway lately or if it is just so luxurious. But I love it! When I traveled to Mexico in the spring I wore this fabulous and comfortable two-piece silk set from ASOS. It was breathable and airy enough for the heat, but it also wasn’t like some type of mesh or cotton material that you sweat through. Get a silk something for the summer.

Low-cut, chest showing, Miami vice, shirts… I am completely enthralled with long sleeve shirts that show your chest and are flowy. I might be really into a Miami Vice vibe or just love having my chest out, who knows. But it’s definitely great for the summer. I think it is the epitome of Tyra Banks quote, “give hoe, but make it fashion.”

Dainty necklaces… I have been layering necklaces while I have on those amazing low cut, chest showing, Miami vice, shirts. It’s necessary.

White… I mean how generic can I get, but I do love white this season. White shirts, sneakers, jeans, cars, sheets, comforters, flowers, etc. If it’s white, I want it.

Slides… want to hear a funny story? My Gucci slides melted in the Mexico heat. Word of advice: don’t wear Gucci slides to the beach. Well, I was at a beach club, but you get the memo. However, I adore my Adidas slides and they are really in right now so jump on the bandwagon. They’re affordable and you can wear them with a bathing suit, cuffed jeans, or (against my good and thoughtful expertise) a short. Below is right before I dealt with the tragic death of my slides... 

Stripes… black and white strips are in, get into it, wear it, play with it, match it and live it.
